COVID-19 Preoperative Assessment Updates

There is a more recent update to our Preoperative Assessment form. To see the latest updates, please visit https://anaestheticgroup.com.au/preoperative-assessment-form-2024/ or try our Standard Plan’s Preoperative Assessment Form Demo here.

The Standard preoperative assessment form has again been updated to include more COVID-19 screening questions (first update here). In addition, we have updated the “Are you feeling well at the moment?” question to include the latest list of COVID symptoms from health.gov.au

Although there was a majority of Standard members that wanted this change, we understand that not everyone likes changes. If you would like the questions turned off now (or anytime later), please reply to the email we sent you.

One of our members this week asked if we could add screening questions for COVID-19 to our Standard pre-op questionnaire. Any change to the Standard form impacts all Standard members, which is why we don’t take changes lightly.

After contacting several members (and receiving overwhelming support for the additions), we added them because we felt it would improve patient outcomes as well as make life a little bit safer for our members.

Some hospitals screen their patients well, but others don’t. And whilst some areas may not have COVID-19 cases right now, over half of Australia is at the moment in lockdown.

Patients only see these questions if their procedure is within two weeks.

If an activity or isolation option is chosen, an additional box will appear asking for more information. A note will also be displayed stating “If you have a COVID-19 test in the 3 days before your operation, please bring the test result with you”.

Preoperative Assessment COVID-19 Questionnaire updates

The feedback we’ve received since adding these questions has made us so glad that we were able to help:

Thank you for this update. In the last month I have had two cases that have caused issues because the hospitals no longer pre-screen for covid, that turned up with symptoms (one cancelled, the other we were able to arrange a covid test and proceed). These changes will help pick up these patients.

How can we help you?

As ever, if you have any ideas on how we can make the site work better for you and your patients, we’d love to hear them. We are always here to help you improve your efficiency and achieve better results for your patients, so please let us know if there is anything we can do.
