2021 Preoperative Form Patient Feedback

Every December, as we close the year, we read again the feedback patients have provided after completing the preoperative assessment form. We enjoy reading them every year, and we hope you do too.

In case you ever doubt whether it’s all worth it, we can assure you that it is! And your patients agree!

Your patients find the questionnaire an efficient way to communicate, especially in this age of Covid. They appreciate being able to discuss their concerns before surgery. This suits them well, and hopefully it also saves you time. Most importantly, they appreciate you care.

Every time a patient submits a preoperative assessment form on our site, we ask for feedback. We love receiving feedback, whether positive or otherwise. Having a good experience on our site means a lot to us. Additionally, it’s the most efficient way to identify improvements.

For 2021 we had a staggering 7,997 patients complete the feedback form (In 2020 we had 6,557)

The Ratings

  • 98.0% = 7,837 people = Loved the site and found it easy
  • 0.99% = 79 people = Thought the site was just OK or identified things we could improve
  • 1.01% = 81 people = Didn’t like the site

The Trends

  • Of the 7,997 patients that left a rating, 1,322 took time to leave a detailed comment
  • 803 people left the comment that they had no suggestions for improvement
  • 219 people responded the form was ‘easy‘ and 51 responded ‘very easy
  • 61 people responded ‘All good

The Comments

We thought you might enjoy seeing some examples of the comments we received in 2021. (All comments are based on the question: “Do you have any feedback or suggestions on how we can make the site better?”).

  • In my 54 years this is the very FIRST online questionnaire I have ever completed. This is a fantastic idea and makes the pt feel valued and listened to.
  • Yes – make sure to keep it the way it is – no logins and passwords!!
  • This is a good way to communicate and giving us enough time to answer all relevant questions accurately related to the surgery.

  • I think knowing the anaesthetist is well informed before the day of surgery is a source of comfort for the patient. In my past few experiences, I met the anaesthetist on the way to the operating theatre and had wondered “is that all he/she needs to know?” Admittedly, until now, none of the procedures were considered “major”. The site was easy to use and the save/restore function worked well.
  • VERY COMPREHENSIVE AND THOROUGH
  • It’s a good process, much more attuned to the user than the NBH/Healthscope form I’ve just filled in.

  • I believe the site is very good . It took some time but allows for comprehensive input. This is the first time I have provide information in this way prior to an anaesthetic. So much better as previously I saw the anaesthetist usually just prior to going into theatre!   • The site works well. I have never had any Anaesthetist in all the operations I have had, be as thorough in their request for patient information, to enable them to deliver the best care they can. I commend you and your fellow colleagues and I can have my surgery knowing I am getting the best care.

That last comment makes our hearts sing and is the very reason why we made this website. Thank you for being an Anaesthetist who wants to provide the best care.
