The Standard preoperative assessment form has been updated to include COVID-19 screening questions. In addition, we have updated the “Are you feeling well at the moment?” question to include the latest list of COVID symptoms from health.gov.au

It’s that time again where we ask our Standard Plan members for feedback on the anaesthetic assessment form. This round we’ve updated questions on asthma, OSA, gastric band and My Health Record. Age can auto calculate and we’ve made anaesthetic problems more prominent
We understand our Anaesthetists are busy. We also understand that you probably get 100s of emails, per day. As such, it’s to be expected that you might skim through your inbox. Recently one of our Anaesthetists recommended that we add a Quote and Phone Call summary to the Allergies at the top of our pre-op forms.
With the number of emails our members receive per day, it’s understandable that they might skim-read them, to see which ones are most important. What we also know, is that identification of patient allergies is a very important part of the preanaesthetic assessment process.

When patients filled in your preoperative assessment health questionnaire the uploaded files were previously only sent as a link to download. We have now changed these anaesthetic questionnaire files to be sent with the questionnaire email.
In order to reinforce to patients that the information they provide will guide the clinical decisions you make, a ‘disclaimer’ has been added to the anaesthetic questionnaire. This disclaimer has only been applied to Standard pre-op anaesthetic questionnaires.
