My name is Dr Leandro Cardoso and I work with your Surgeon.

About me:
I currently work full time in Ballarat where I live with my wife and teenage daughters.
I am passionate about health and wellbeing and I keep active by attending daily classes of CrossFit.
I have over 20 years of experience in anaesthesia and I‘ve trained and worked as a consultant Anaesthetist both in Brazil and Australia.
As a Fellow of the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetist, I am an Australian medical specialist who is officially recognised as a consultant in anaesthesia.

What does that mean for you?
My goal is to work with your surgeon to ensure you get through the surgical procedure safe and comfortable. I will assess you in the pre-operative area before we move into the operating theatre. I will be working alongside an Anaesthetic Nurse who will apply monitors to assist me ensure your safety throughout the operation.
Depending on the surgery, to optimise your post operation recovery, occasionally, I will suggest we perform a regional anaesthesia technique in addition to or instead of the general anaesthesia.
Once you are asleep, while your surgeon performs the surgery, I will monitor your vital signs until the end of the operation. On your wake-up time, I will be there to ensure you have a pleasant recovery phase.

What do you need to do?
Every person is different. Pre-operative assessment is very important in order to give you the safest anaesthetic possible. This is why I require you to complete the Pre-Op Health Questionnaire. I need to understand your complete medical history to choose the best anaesthetic medicine and technique for you. Please complete this Pre-Op Questionnaire as soon as possible.
