Dr Harmeet Aneja is a Specialist Anaesthetist who who will be working with your surgeon, and will be responsible for your care for your upcoming procedure.

About Dr Aneja
As an Anaesthetist, Dr Harmeet Aneja is a medical specialist who helps you through your operation. Dr Aneja is an Australian doctor who is officially recognised as a consultant in the specialty of anaesthesia. Dr Aneja is also a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Dr Aneja completed his specialist training in Anaesthesia in Melbourne after which he did a Fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia and the Post Graduate course in Clinical Ultrasound from Melbourne University. He works both in Public (Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital) & Private Hospitals and has over 25 years’ experience in Medicine and 15 years in Anaesthesia. In addition to being the Convenor of two Australian Cadaveric Courses, Dr Aneja has lectured and held workshops at various national and international conferences.

His current interests include anaesthesia for Major Orthopaedic Surgery, Musculoskeletal Tumour surgery, Cardiac Electrophysiologic Procedures, Bariatric & Upper GI Surgery, Minor & Complex Endoscopy & Bronchoscopy. His teaching interests include teaching advanced ultrasound guided nerve blocks and fiber-optic airway management techniques to specialists and trainees.

What do you need to do?
Dr Aneja will be responsible for ensuring your safety and comfort during the operation and adequate pain relief following your operation. For certain operations Dr Aneja may recommend a particular pain management technique. This may include a spinal or epidural injection or a nerve block.

Not all anaesthetics are the same. Therefore, to provide you with the safest and most effective anaesthetic, it is essential that Dr Aneja has your full medical and surgical history. In order to assist with this, Dr Aneja requests that all patients complete the Pre-Op Questionnaire.

Arrival & Fasting Instructions
The hospital will contact you the day before your surgery to give you a time to arrive at the hospital.

• You need to stop eating food 6 hours before your time of arrival in hospital
• You may continue to drink clear fluids up to 2 hours before your time of arrival in hospital
  • Clear fluids include water, clear fruit juice, clear energy drinks, black tea or coffee.
  • Clear fluids do not include milk products or any thickened fluids which need to stop 6 hours prior to surgery.

Fees
Dr. Aneja’s fees are well below those recommended by Australian Medical Association.
The fees depend upon complexity of surgery, its duration and the patient’s health status.
The total anaesthesia fee is your responsibility to pay.

For your convenience, when health fund regulations allow we submit Medicare and Health fund claims on your behalf to fully or partially pay for our services and only invoice you just the out of pocket costs (the gap).

GAP FEES:
Our gap fees are fixed & have to be paid before surgery.
Gap (Out of pocket) expense for the anaesthesia depends on the procedure and your health fund and is as follows:

FOLLOWING PATIENTS WILL NOT BE CHARGED A GAP:
  • HBF Patients: (HBF fully covers Dr. Aneja’s fees)
  • DVA patients
  • Workers Compensation Claims
  • Gastroscopy patients
  • Colonoscopy patients

FOLLOWING PATIENTS WILL BE CHARGED A FIXED GAP & WILL RECEIVE A GAP INVOICE BY EMAIL:
For all other Health Funds inclusive of but not limited to (AHM, AHSA Funds, BUPA, CBH, GMHBA, GU, HCF, HIF, MBP, NIB, THF), the Gap fees are:
  • Day Cases: $175 (NIB: no gap)
  • Overnight Cases: $295
  • Long or Complex Surgery, Multiple or Bilateral Operations: $500

For Uninsured, Self Funded or International insurance funds:
  • Full fee needs to be paid before the procedure
  • Please contact Dr Aneja for a quote
